The City of Watonga was incorporated in 1903 and is governed by statutory aldermanic form of government. The powers of the City are vested in the mayor and city council.
City Hall is located at 1st and Weigle in Watonga.

The Watonga City Council consists of eight elected councilmen and the mayor. The council meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 pm at the Council Room in City Hall.
